Management, administration and coordination of the research unit KiLi

From 01/11/2016 to 31/10/2018

Project leader:  Katrin Böhning-Gaese

Management, administration and coordination of the research unit is covered by the coordination project. The coordination project consists of a German and a Tanzanian management office. It is responsible for substantial administrative (e.g. research permits, finances, travelling), and logistic duties (e.g. maintenance of two research stations, car park, security), as well as for maintaining the research infrastructure (e.g. laboratories, 65 study plots, 13 focal plots, two scientific gardens), and for supervising Tanzanian staff (e.g. field assistants, house staff, watchmen). The coordination project has major responsibilities in fostering local and national networks both in scientific as well as other institutions. During the third phase we will also focus on increasing outreach addressing scientists and scientific institutions, administration and further decision-makers as well as the general public in East Africa. We will organize scientific meetings on the national and regional scales in Tanzania, offer scientific excursions and intensify outreach to local stakeholders.
